Sir Quentin Blake inks BFG and swan drawing for Bowes Museum (News)

Sir Quentin Blake has created a singular drawing for The Bowes Museum.

The ink illustration depicts the BFG cradling a swan consuming a fish, impressed by the museum’s life-size Silver Swan automaton.

Bought by the museum’s founders in 1872, the life-sized artefact, which involves life as soon as a day, twists its head, preens, and catches a fish.

Sir Quentin’s creations are at present on show as a part of a BFG exhibition on the museum in Barnard Fort.

The swan was purchased by museum founders John and Joséphine Bowes in 1872 for five,000 francs (£200)

Schooling co-ordinator, Amy Bainbridge, stated: “It is a fantastic legacy that may grow to be a part of our everlasting assortment for future generations to see.”

The BFG in Photos in on show at The Bowes Museum till 30 September 2018.
